Bug Out Pest Solutions guide
How to Prepare for a Pest Treatment at Your Home
A little preparation helps your technician do a thorough job. It also keeps your family and pets comfortable during the visit. This guide covers what to do before, during and after a pest treatment at your Brisbane north home.
Before the technician arrives
Start by clearing the areas we need to reach. Move items away from skirting boards, under sinks and from the base of walls. Clear out the cupboards under the kitchen sink and the bathroom vanity.
Put food away. Dry goods, pet food and utensils should be sealed in containers or stored in cupboards that are not being treated. Clear benches and wipe them down.
Make sure we can get inside. If you cannot be home, let us know how access will work when you book. If there is a locked gate, a dog in the yard or a security alarm, tell us ahead of time.
If you are treating the inside of the home, take dishes and cookware out of lower cupboards or cover them. Wash and put away anything left on the bench. If you are not sure what needs moving, call us before the visit and we will tell you.
People and pets
Plan where children and pets will be during the visit. Fish tanks and bird cages need attention, so mention them when you book. Our technician will tell you what to cover or move.
Pets often need to be out of the way during the treatment and for a period afterward. Your technician will give you specific instructions for your home. Please follow them.
What happens during the visit
Our certified technicians start with a look around, even if you have already described the problem. They check entry points, nesting areas and the conditions that led to the infestation. Then they carry out the treatment set out in your plan.
We use only Australian approved products and we are licensed and insured. If you have questions about a particular product or area of the house, ask while the technician is on site.
The treatment plan we give you lists any instructions for people in the home during the work. If something in the plan is unclear, ask us. It is better to check than to guess.
After the treatment
Your technician will explain how long to stay out of treated areas and when it is fine to go back in. Follow that advice closely, as it depends on the treatment used.
Avoid washing down treated surfaces straight away unless you are told it is fine. Sweeping up dead pests is usually fine, but ask the technician what they recommend for your home.
You may still see some activity for a short period after treatment. That is common as pests come into contact with treated areas. If you are worried about what you see, call us.
Ongoing prevention
Treatment alone does not keep pests away for good. We pass on tips for your property, such as sealing gaps, repairing leaks, trimming garden beds back from walls and storing food well.
If you live in Brendale, Warner, Albany Creek, Aspley or nearby and want to talk before your visit, call us. Our general pest control page explains how we work.
If you have a follow-up visit booked, keep it. Some infestations need a second treatment to finish the job, and the plan will tell you if yours does.
